[Poll] Bluesky vs Mastodon
Since 2022 we have seen new options for decentralized social media come on the scene. Mastodon is a microblogging platform that's built on the ActivityPub protocol. Bluesky is the same but built on its own AT Protocol. Both provide a decentralized social network that can be owned and operated by the ...

Still needing to manually approve new accounts?
I noticed that the May 4 update about having to manually approve new accounts hasn't changed. Is that still an issue?

Re: Amazon One??? Is nothing sacred???
I haven't seen that in particular, but I have noticed Amazon's entry into the healthcare market. I also don't like. It's not just that they're providing a pharmacy, as other companies have done like grocery chains and Walmart. They want to be like your one stop shop for healthcare and it feels gross.

Re: How to grow and professionalize as an artist while moving away from Instagram
I don't have direct experience with promoting art, but I do have ideas for what you can do for marketing.
First, there are other social media platforms that you can be on. For the mainstream platforms, I figure Pinterest and Reddit could be good options to explore if you're not already. Then there ...

Re: Ed Zitron's (AI critic) newsletter
Describing it as a toy is apt; that's how I feel as well. Literally, it's like the digital equivalent of a fidget spinner that I mess around with when I need a break from what I'm working on sometimes. And even then it could disappear tomorrow and it would have no affect on me.

Re: Side Quest: Plants (this is the corn video)
When I tell other people that your channel is one people are sleeping on, it's for videos like this. Your craft is great and improving with every video. The styling on the plants and changing the background was awesome. I'll stop - it's cringe of me. But seriously, great video.

Re: What do you think about the loneliness epidemic?
SapphireFire what a great summary of what's going on. While I think folks have been feeling like this for a while and I do think COVID exasperated things, I think it has a lot more to do with the existence of the internet and our naive understanding how to balance that with real life connection ...

Re: What do you think about the loneliness epidemic?
That's a really good point about folks with certain interests not having an in-person space to share those interests. It makes me think about how much easier a time I have connecting with people in a forum, Discord server, or Minecraft server than I can IRL. Nerds don't have the convenience of a ...

Re: Using arch btw
How did you prepare for installing Arch? Did you just follow the wiki and work with any recommendations there, or did you need to have a list of what exactly you wanted beforehand for anything that needed to be done before you're done installing?

What do you think about the loneliness epidemic?
I've been thinking about this as a topic because it tends to come up a lot online. From some I have heard the idea that there isn't really a epidemic going on, male or otherwise, and I think I'm amenable to that view. However I have heard from others online or in person that they do think many ...
