For everyone who doesn't know what a CVE is, it's the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, and is a system where Vulnerabilities are Tracked. The way your Anti Virus for example knows one of the Software you are using is Dangerous is because it looks at the CVEs for that Software and checks the Version.

The Blog post goes about the Topic of using CVEs to mark End of Life Software, which is not done currently. But it is written in such a wonderful way, it made Laugh properly out loud several times.
